Paul Hall, Reggae Boyz coach, said Thursday’s friendly international match against Peru is vital to the team’s preparations.

The Reggae Boyz is expected to leave the island for Peru today, January 17th.

The match is not in FIFA’s window. A number of Jamaican starters who have been playing at Concacaf World Cup qualifying events will also be unavailable.

Thursday’s match will be in Lima, Peru seven days before Jamaica’s next World Cup qualifier against Mexico, at the National Stadium.

Hall said, “The Peru game has vital importance because we want this game to examine what is available to our eyes.”

Hall stated that it was a chance to see players in action and to get a close look at what they’re like playing against a team.

“It is always an opportunity for them because it is possible to use the most talented players for Jamaica and, if we are able, select the best 11 players to play and the best support team,” Hall said. Hall explained that the group has many talented players. “It is about what they bring to the team and how they can help,” he said.

This is a huge opportunity for these players to be in the Reggae Boyz 24-man roster for their World Cup qualifiers versus the Mexicans on January 27, at the National Stadium, and Panama on January 30, in Panama City.
