Yes, you dont remember?

Between 1509 and 1655 Jamaica’s primary language was Spanish and its capital was Villa de la Vega.
What is now known as Spanish Town was the Spanish and British capital of Jamaica from 1534 to 1872.

In 1655 the English conquered Jamaica and renamed the area to Spanish Town. Spanish Town remained the capital until it was moved to Kingston in 1872.

Some of the areas kept their Spanish names. Ocho Rios is one such place. Can you think of any other place, town or river in Jamaica that currently has a Spanish name? If so drop it in the comments section.
