Reggae Sumfest In For Spectacular Sizzla Performance This Year
SIZZLA KLOJI is promising conscious dancehall music to his set at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay on July 20-23, at Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre.
“Yes. Reggae Sumfest is something I look forward to. It’s a great show on that island. “I’m bringing the whole culture vibes from roots-reggae as well as Nyahbinghi to the fans,” he said to the Jamaica Observer.
Josef Bogdanovich (Reggae Sumfest’s Executive producer) recently confirmed that Rastafari’s singer would be in this year’s line-up. However, he couldn’t confirm whether or not Rastafari’s 35-piece Orchestra would be joining him.
“Please expect a scintillating show,” stated the singer who has been on several occasions.
Sizzla performed in concert with the 35-piece Reggae Orchestra on Reggae Month’s penultimate occasion, Rise to the Occasion. The event was held at the Gardens at the Pegasus in Kingston.
He took a moment to reflect on the concert.
He stated, “It wasn’t the same in a way where I was getting more fillings, of beautifully arranged sound to accompany me during my time on set.”
It meant so many things to me musically; I feel most honored and thrilled. It was my duty and great pleasure being a part of such a grand event as I’m so passionate about singing for the people whilst delivering the message of black consciousness and self-representation,” he continued.
Sizzla, the Reggae Orchestra at Concert, was created by Olivia “Babsy”, minister for culture, gender and entertainment.
The Rastafari artiste, who was wearing a grey suit and a black Turban, was accompanied by his backup singers and musicians who were also in black.
It was hit after hit. He belted out the lyrics of some of his most famous songs including Praise Ye Jah. Rise To The Occasion.
Sizzla, whose real name is Miguel Collins said that rehearsals weren’t as complicated as you might think for a large orchestra.
“These musicians are truly professional. It took just five days,” he stated.
The entertainer gave some tips for singers in training.
He advised that one should be of good faith and not stop writing, recording, performing and reading.
